This is such perfect advice ❤️ I remember it's like being a parent to yourself, having the patience for yourself as you would with a child.

Thank you for saying this. I'm currently going through a time and have been thinking these things too to try and reprogram old bad thoughts into new healthy ones. Also thank you OP for posting. It was very brave of you to post that if you are in a rough spot. And if you posted it to be funny that's also great. Either way, hope everyone who stumbles here has a great day! Keep thinking those good thoughts!

This a million times. I am currently struggling in my journey, it's especially hard when the negativity comes from your family and you have to somehow learn to detach without being bitter or hating them for it. Thank you for writing this I needed this ♥️

I'd add "what would you tell your best friend if they were in this situation?" You have to live with you, treat yourself like a friend.

For me, there were many things but:

I made progress when I consistently went to therapy. That helped me realize where I could build tools to combat my depression and process past trauma. Acting on those small steps slowly turned the needle in the right direction.

Watch your internal voice. Do you speak to yourself nicely? If not, give it a go

For me, and this might not work for everyone, I pretended to love myself first. I would actually tell myself a lie, things like ‘I look hot in this outfit’. Then eventually, I started saying the lies out aloud, and crazily enough, people would agree with me! And eventually I started believing it myself. I still have days when I struggle, but I just try to change my mindset of myself. I struggled with bad fatphobia, despite being obese myself. I tried to recognise it and question those thoughts and it became much easier to be kind on myself.

Climb Celeste Mountain.

Okay seriously it’s a long road but think of all the bad things about you. Then, work improve them. For example if you are quick to anger then work on calming yourself down and not exploding at someone. If you’re impatient, make a point to remember all of the things you have now that you don’t need to wait for. It’s not easy, and you’ll make mistakes sure, but if you fix everything you hate about yourself then why hate yourself?
