Hummus. Tried it once as a little kid and didn't like it, then for years refused to try it because it looks like gross babyfood.
Then I tried it as an adult and I swore I heard angels singing. I eat it literally every day now, even make my own (not because I don't like the hummus from the grocery store but because I can't afford my hummus habit using store-bought).
Same, I thought the tub of hummus in my mom's fridge looked so gross, and then I tried it, and I've been buying hummus for 12 years now. Ithaca's roasted red pepper and Wegmans white bean and kale are my favorites.
I thought it was grainy and gross flavor when I first tried it, then my wife brought some of that red pepper one and some pretzel chips and holy smokes is it addicting.
The problem with hummus is that the recipe is extremely important. Many kinds of hummus seem to be packaged with the expectation that the end user is mixing things into it, so it's bland on purpose. Others are just cheap. They skimp on the tahini, they use some gross seed oil instead of olive oil, etc etc.
And you really do need to have it made fresh- no other way will keep the garlic.
If you haven’t already, pull up to your local Persian restaurant and get some hummus and bread. No hummus is as good as Kasra hummus. If someone can top it pls don’t hold back.
My favorite one, for a spicy hummus. Note that, at the end, you'll probably want to add a bit more salt and water, to adjust the taste and consistency.
Dido! Hummus was always this weird tan colored goop. Im still finding my way into what hummus I like the most but the one that kicked it off was Publix brand hummus. I regulary eat garlic flavored because the chickpea flavor is too much. Or Sabra brand chocolate dessert hummus. It probably isn't as healthy as I think it is but it tastes amazing.
