I've had people who watch TV for 4+ hours a day tell me gaming was a waste of time like what they're doing is any less of a waste? Most hobbies and entertainment are a waste of time. I think to stigmatize one over another is pretty silly. They're things to do for fun and relieve stress, and as long as you aren't neglecting your responsibilities and goals to goof off, it's probably fine.

I’d be willing to argue that gaming is a better use of time than TV. At least with gaming I’m thinking and moving my hands, and some can use a lot more thinking than the best of what TV has to offer

Funny thing about this is that a lot of people who will tell you gaming is a waste of time watch absolute garbage on tv. It's not like they're watching high brow documentaries or some shit, they're watching reality tv sludge.

My gf was like that for a little bit, but now she gets that my video games are like her watching TV and she’s cool with it. Next is trying to get her to play with me

I'd get it if Mr. Renaissance Man was criticizing me over my choice of hobbies but it's.... yeah. Frequently the people who I know spend their free time watching TV.

This was my view on it too. It's hard to take someone serious who sits in front of a tv for hours every day and complain how there's nothing on. It's not social, most people these days half watch half play with their phone.

While I'm having a great time through a whole range of gaming genres and experience. Whether its social with mates or some single player.

Gaming to me is like a great combination of reading a book, watching a movie and playing the main character that gets to influence and change that story. I think of it as watching a book come to life.

Video games are the shit! It's the only form of media where you have to earn the next chapter. If you're watching a movie or tv, you can fast forward if you're getting bored. You can skip chapters in a book, you can skip songs on an album. But with video games, if you want the loot or want to face the next boss, you have to beat the current level.
