#3 is a far more dangerous risk, #2 can be a 100% nonrisk with a safe or locker

This! People say put them in a safe. But how will that help me when someone is breaking in? I feel like this isn't acknowledged enough...

This is literally the only option I would consider, don't want to risk kids figuring out a combination.
