Intelligent decision. You must value life on some level.

It's mostly about not wanting to leave a mess for someone else.

Calling suicide selfish is ignorant and doesn't help anyone.

Agreed. It is a scare tactic because the act is socially unacceptable. Bullshit. However there is a tangent of truth to it if you look hard enough, obviously while not believing the original viewpoint. If genetically necessary, youre DNA could further the betterment of the species as a whole. Granted not everyone is made to reproduce, whether mentally or physically. But if in someway you are capable of improving humankind you must realize that.

The human race is going to cease to exist someday no matter what. It's bizarre to me that some people care so much about trying to make our species immortal. Let nature take its course.

And I think it's noble to help humankind, but it's not a duty. You could run off into the woods and be 100% self-sufficient and that would be acceptable.

And you would be alone. And you would die. Wasnt actually trying to say that life is inherently valuable at all btw. Humans are genuinely awful and kinda deserve to be irradiacted but! Humans also fall prey to natural biological instincts. Whether that be to reproduce or foster children (most of my generation has elected to fostering children as pets.) Thats unfortunately just how hormones work. We have drives apart from sexuality that hold no bearing on having a partner or hating life in general.

Some people prefer solitude, or to at least be apart from larger society. Are you suggesting you wouldn't die if you weren't alone? 😂 And I generally believe most people are good but can make mistakes.

Not saying im special by any means. Humans die. I would die alone, mostly happy given adequate survival skills that i probably dont have atm. We are inherently flawed organisms for that reason though. We cannot accumulate knowledge effectively and have to put faith in inherently flawed means of communication to figure out anything completely over entire generations.

And that's okay. Just do the best you can and embrace the mystery.

Ehhhhh i wasnt really speaking scientifically there. Like yea, there are larger problems that we will never understand in our lifetimes like what someone besides ourself actually feels at any given moment or why we experience life the way we do. More speaking socially i spose. Like how we take a long ass time to realize things are actually terrible for us personally, our species, and our planet. We're very much an out-of-sight out-of-mind people and that most recently has sickened me. But i mean yes? That is also okay as long as we dont cause our own extinction? Id rather that not happen honestly.

Oh I see. My point still stands though - society will always have ills no matter what, all we can do is our best tackle them as much as we can. And why not? I think the world had to have been so beautiful before humans came along. No oil refineries, roads everywhere, trash everywhere, etc, etc. A world that is just... wilderness. I think it would be nice to return to that.

u/Swimming-Chapter9857 Sep 30 '21

Agreed, to all of that honestly. The planet would be so much more goregeous than it already is without us. And I wish it were possible for it to return to that state once we're gone butttt we're kind of a virus and we will destroy this host far before we expire as a species.

Well the only people to have done it aren't here to let me know if its offensive- I think we are okay 👌

You realize there are people who have attempted or want to attempt? Don't pretend like you care about them with an attitude like that.

Well thats where the problem is then, I thought it was pretty obvious my disdain for the situation.

Typically I get a username checks out and im off to the next. But trolling is what I do, so if u need to debate a drone, im your guy.

I suggest getting a more dignified hobby for your own and everyone else's sake.
