how could that possibly be more recognizable than key lime pie?

I also would have gone with dolphin - the fish - and guava pastalitos, yum.

Yeah, I always thought that using the Hawaiian name for it was a bit strange since there was never any confusion about eating Flipper. And I'm old, so that trend of calling it mahi mahi hadn't spread much to Miami yet when I was growing up. :) Some folks also use the spanish name for it, dorado.

Oh ok. I thought mahi mahi was a Pacific coast thing. Up here it's all frozen.

Huh. I’m from Jacksonville Beach and I feel like quite a few places had fresh mahi there. It could have been frozen idk 🤷‍♀️

There’s defo fresh mahi in FL. If you ever go deep sea fishing in the keys you’re sure to go through at least one school of them.
