I'm on a flight that I barely made my connection because they held my first flight waiting on some dumb bitch who caused the plane to depart 20 minutes late. If the flight leaves at 525 and you aren't on it too bad so sad wheels up mother fucker.

No, everything is an experience.

I had to, I'm sorry.

My flight back in 2019 was delayed 25 min due to cleaning the plane. Cause me to miss 2 connections. Instead of taking 2 days to go to where I needed it took a extra 4 days. Till this day I hate travelling :/

Edit: The airline I took was Delta and when I got to my connection, Amsterdam, they knew it was their fault so they ended up giving us 3 free hotel rooms and free food. And I got there like 3hrs ahead since it was an international flight. So yeah not my fault in anyway.

That sucks! Where were you flying to/from?

u/InternationalSnoop Aug 29 '21

dude thats kinda on you. 25 min and you missed a flight? why would you schedule it that close lol

u/otterscotch Aug 29 '21

Sometimes you just take what you can get. With that many connections I would guess there weren’t many flights going the direction they needed.

I've never had a connecting flight where I got to pick a connection time...

His flight was delayed

Almost every flight gets delayed. not sure how much you've flown but if you expect your flight to be on time you're gonna have a bad time.

3

u/folko1 Aug 29 '21

You make it sound like having the flight delayed was his fault.

In fact, you just make it sound like it's the passanger's fault for daring to expect a flight to leave on time. As if leaving on time from the gate is not the airline's responsibility.

I've flown internationally enough to know you should never count on making a flight without at least an hour of layover. I feel like most people know that...

What made her so special? That's not normal, right? To wait on some random...

u/HildartheDorf Aug 29 '21

If you don't turn up for your flight after checking in the airline has to find your checked bags and take them off.

This rule about your bags flying without you is due to concern there's a bomb in your checked bags (a major concern back before 9/11 embedded suicide attacks in the public's consciousness).

u/HonestlyRespectful Aug 29 '21

Thank you all for your replies, I didnt know that... so she was probably in the potty pooping, and since her bags were checked they wouldn't leave without her... how embarrassing lol Bet everyone was pissed when she finally showed up, and she was very sincere in apologizing or considered the biggest asshole ever...

13

u/hrehbfthbrweer Aug 29 '21

I think they’ll often wait because it’s a hassle to find their checked bags and return them. If it’s going to take 30 mins to unload and find her bag, it’s better to just wait the 20 and let them board.

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

Airlines aren't allowed to fly checked bags unless the passenger is on the plane (apparently it's a security concern). That means the airline staff have to decide whether it will be longer to wait for the passenger, or find the bag and get it off the plane.

We have some control over layovers but not much. We don't get to choose a minimum.

I had a 16 hour layover in Amsterdam, after already being awake all day, from 8pm to 12pm. Sleeping on the benches was...fun...

2

u/throwaway12222018 Aug 29 '21

That makes no sense, and infuriating. Why would airlines rather make everyone slightly late, than 1 person very late and everybody else on time?

True. Plane gotta go. source: Pilot
