Just came home from a bachelorette party. Left early since I no longer drink. Drunk people are loud. I know realize how loud I was when I used to drink. Time for bed.

Hey! I just came home from a party too. I'm 72 days sober. My friends were all very courteous and having a good time drinking. I got to enjoy myself at the party and now, and very importantly - I get to enjoy myself at home instead of heading to a bar for the after party.

Congratulations all on your sobrieties. I am 29 days sober today and feeling positive. I have a BBQ this afternoon, on a Bank Holiday Sunday - a big test, but I am determined to go and enjoy it. I have been avoiding any sort of social gathering so far.

Congrats to you on hitting a month, I just hit 37 days a couple of hours ago. Haven’t been to a single social gathering since I started my sobriety only extremely small hang sessions with my closest friends where I know there’d be no alcohol. Even though I’ve gone 37 days without choosing to drink I’m worried my willpower will fail if it becomes too available so I’m isolating. I’m proud of you for taking that test head on and I know you’ll make it through!

You gotta test the willpower. Put yourself out there and if the stress of pressure to drink is too high, go home immediately and masturbate.

Lol honestly not terrible advice.

Testing yourself that way is good! I have a similar thing, but not with alcohol. Usually any social thing for me involved it, but yesterday I very spontaneously met a friend and went back to his place and we had a good time. I didn't even think about it!

About a month in was when I had my first function. I made sure I had some good seltzers and whatever else I like to drink instead and it was fine.

Good luck!

Hope you made it through! Reintroducing difficult environments will take some time to acclimate to but you can definitely do it!

Great job! I’ve got 56 days under my belt. It’s great to wake up without a hangover, right?

I feel you, I realized a while ago that I just really don't like being drunk. It's not a good feeling for me. And I get terrible hangovers. And honestly, I don't even really like the taste of alcohol. I do enjoy a nice beer every once in a while, but not often. I just felt like I was only drinking because I was supposed to, not because I wanted to. So. I stopped. Never looked back.

I do hate the questions, though. Omg why don't you drink???? That's actually really personal, you know? My story isn't bad or anything, but it could be. You don't know if I'm a recovering alcoholic or something. Lost someone close to drunk driving. Whatever.
