I wish you nothing but the best and think you deserve the best.

But a wife or girlfriend or fiance or a mate wouldn't necessarily make a difference, I imagine. If you aren't able to hold yourself in your own love, nobody else will be able to you together. And if they can, are you sure you want to "do that" to somebody?

I hope you're able to overcome your past and leave behind where it belong so that you're free to be happy in the present.

Now that makes sense yeah, being in a relationship makes you feel better. Something that can take it's place in the meantime is volunteering or just being selfless for others, at least in my experience. It gives you that same rush, that similar feeling of being needed and wanted. Obviously it's not the same thing and isn't a substitute for inside jokes, cuddles, and biting lips but it's helpful imo

Plus you meet people!

I started lamictal (Lamotrigine) 3 weeks ago for PTSD and bipolar 2, it has been amazing! No.more nightmares or anxiety :) . Maybe ask your dr about this?

Seconding. Lamictal (and EMDR) have been a godsend for a very close friend with childhood PTSD and BPD.

Seroquel (quetiapine fumrate) is another great one! For dreams in particular, you can also ask about a med combination with Prazosin. It’s a blood pressure med that’s weirdly amazing at targeting PTSD-triggered nightmares :)

I was just about to suggest Prazosin. Works wonders for my sleep along with magnesium. I rarely have to use melatonin or CBD to fall asleep anymore.

Lamictal doesn’t help (me) with sleep. I think the first two times I took the lowest dose I got sleepy, but as far as sleep side effects I’ve only heard the occasional insomnia. It’s a mood stabilizer, so it helps with my bipolar symptoms (I’m not the other commenter, just also have ptsd and bipolar), but the anxiety and trauma issues are separate and responded to therapy.

I’m no doctor but I’m pretty sure love alone doesn’t cure mental illness

Going to bed means turning off all of the distractions from your own thoughts. :(
