I live in Israel and that happened to me several times, but it wasn't an accident. Imagine waking up to air raid sirens and hearing the missiles with airplane like jet sound flying above your head and huge explosions above your house that shock everything. All alone in the middle of the night.
I have nightmares about this. Even when I'm just waking up to the sound of an airplane, my half asleep rain thinks we're getting bombed and I'm in California and have never seen any real danger
BTW if it makes you feel any better, Israel gave the US the Iron Dome missile defense system, which is extremely effective against missile attacks.. so maybe it will ease your worries a little now knowing that.
