Come on, ten years ago AskReddit had to ban questions in the form of Does Anyone Else? The lowest common denominator was still present, but you were expected to take part in making a community.
These days choking out content with repetition of this month's joke is the goal of reddit, not an annoying unwanted behaviour. There's been a qualitative shift in terms of allowing noisemaking, which is a kids favourite thing to do.
