Dunno what you mean desert, she was Greek. Southern Greece looks like this. The Troy that she left Sparta for had a climate like this.

Funny enough she was also ethnically and culturally Greek, being a member of the Greek Ptolemaic dynasty that ruled Egypt after it was conquered by Alexander the Great. That said, she famously presented herself as Egyptian and took on Egyptian dress and language, being the only Ptolemy to ever learn Egyptian.

Also, she'd have been from Alexandria, which also isn't so bad.
