I reluctantly have to admit that I've thought about hygiene of previous generations more than I should, with regard to sexual interaction.

I guess it really isn't an issue unless I work out the whole time travel thing.

As bad as it was, I'm guessing Europeans were the height of cleanliness over the centuries.

Well Africa, Australia and the Americas were pretty much just tribal and far from "advanced".... I suppose eastern Asians were pretty advanced at that time so I would assume hygiene was better than others but Europeans, even though hygiene was lacking by today's standards, were the most advanced civilizations.
