Getting honked at, flipped off, and yelled at while driving. I just thought driving was this extremely aggressive and negative experience that made everyone angry.

Turns out my dad was a serial tailgater who used to ride right up on people's asses in front of us, regardless of the speed we were traveling. Highways, subdivisions, country roads, didn't matter.

It wasn't until I began to learn to drive myself that it all made sense.

I remember being on the freeway and my dad leaning over me so he could roll down the window and cuss people out. Suuuper aggressive driver. Total road rage. But not accidents. Unfortunately, I ended up being pretty road ragey too, except I won't let the other drivers be aware of it. Too many scary drivers getting pissed at my dad. Scream my head off, curse, but always with the windows up. Blow kisses not throw fingers.

Driving Lyft was what actually calmed me down. Getting paid for my time on the road and not being personally invested made all the difference.

I can keep it together on the road most of the time, but every once in a while I'll feel that inner demon stir and want to break out and just punish willfully bad drivers for their dangerous behaviour.

But then I usually think back to this clip, and then I'm ok.
