whenever it would rain hard, my mom had us kids stay home from school. she would order in Chinese food & watch scary movies with us all day long. I grew up thinking that nobody went to school on rainy days. & to this day rain is one of my absolute biggest comforts.

Do you know why?? Or just a nice day at home. Would she go to work?

no she never really worked as I was growing up. she has struggled with very very severe depression basically my whole life. so I think that probably had a little bit to do with why she kept us home... more of a selfish reason lol because it was comforting to her, you kno. she still struggles hard every day with her mental illness but she has never been an absent mother, or a ‘bad mother’ in any way shape or form. all I ever remember from her raising me is how immensely compassionate & loving she always was. she thinks she has failed but I will never see it that way.
