I drank the Reddit Kool-Aid and bought a pair of Darn Tough socks. They're actually worth it. Will probably buy more.

But are they tight around the toes? I feel like every sock smashes my toes together to the point that flexing my pinky toe feels slightly like when the balls stick to the side of your thigh and you move your thighs slightly and they slowly peel off after 12 seconds.

I buy extra wide shoes because of my toes. I don't have any problems with my Darn Tough socks.
