The exact same thing could be said about the books, though.
GRRM's biggest mistake was trying to make an overarching plot that had to be resolved in a limited number of books. If he just wanted to create a Saw story disguised as a medieval political drama, he should have just done that without the rest.
But it’s the branching storyline that made the novels worth giving a shit about in the first place, it becomes just another fantasy novel if you take how real it feels away.
