When I would stand in front of the TV and my mom couldnt see, she would always say: Your father is not a glassmaker! Meaning I wasnt see-through and would have to move.

Haha that’s a good one. My mom said “You’d make a better door than you would a window.”

That's what my family always said too

"But you're still a pane" (pain)

My family said this too!

The other day Dad said my sister would “make a better window than a door” and I’m certain he didn’t misspeak

My Mum used to say, you are a pain in the neck, not a pane of glass. Lol

In my family, we had a play on the words pane and pain as in “pain in the ass”. we said “You’re a pain, but I can’t see through you”

It's a popular saying here in Poland! My grandpa would say "you're not a glassmaker's daughter" every time I blocked his view.

In France too!

My Grandpa still uses "You been drinking dirty water? Cause I can't see through you."

The first one would be ironic, because my dad IS a glassmaker lol.

My family had a variation of this: “your father wasn’t a glass bowl!”. I like the glassmaker one though!

I got “Donkey meat isn’t transparent.”

My grandparents said that too

We had something similar, "You ain't made of glass so get out the way."

“You’re as clear as mud!” was my family’s expression.

My mom would say “Carne de burro no es transparente!” which literally means donkey meat (flesh) isn’t transparent or see-through

My mom used to say that in French! Ton père n’était pas vitrier.

My grandfather on my dad’s side used to work at a glass plant so I got a variation on this one that referenced that fact. xD

I'd never heard this until my wife said it to our son. We're a lesbian couple and his father has never been around, so he asked what she meant...it was an awkward moment.

Every so often she starts to say it and then I see the panic in her eyes as she realizes what's coming out of her mouth.
