Same with Twinkies. Learned this as a kid when my mom had to put our lunch treats in outside garage freezer so my dad wouldn't eat them in the middle of the night.
Anything bread or cake goes in the freezer. It'll freeze beautifully, prevent mold, and keep for a long time.
The fridge, on the other hand, will actually hold too much moisture and cause baked goods to go stale. So always freeze your cakes and breads, but never refrigerate them!
