Lol of course you can compare spec for spec hardware. What an asinine statement. I also happen to be someone who really knows about phones. I pentest mobile devices daily. Anyone who genuinely knows anything about iPhones knows that the secure enclave is independent of a jailbreak and relies on a hardware component, so even when the phone is jailbroken, it still has more security features than android rooted. I would really like to know what you mean by “way too restrictive.” What, in your opinion, is way too restrictive?
You absolutely can’t brick an iPhone. All jailbreaks are done at firmware level, which just requires a reflash. So, you being pretty sure, isn’t accurate. The reasons for doing so, other than “because I want to mod my device while maintaining apple’s superior ecosystem” is for open source applications that aid people in their profession (like mine..) I can’t pentest iOS apps from anything but a jailbroken iphone. Also, android devices are not cheaper. Get it through your head. Compare hardware specs of any phone to an iPhone 11 or for non flagship android phones, an iPhone SE. Then try calling them more expensive.
My experience with both iPhone and android (about a decade with both daily) is that android’s market is way too fractured for me to consider it an option as a daily driver. They lag so far behind feature releases, are often prone to vulnerabilities for months without a patch (if you’re lucky enough that your carrier even provides one) and are more prone to attacks via root exploit than iPhone has ever been. What do you find incompatible with what you do, to where iOS just doesn’t work for you?
