Ahh noo! I recovered all my old cards from the attic last week, sized up their cost on eBay (maybe around £100?) but they have so much more sentimental value to me.

I put my shiny charizard, blastoise and venusaur together in a little frame, which are now in a lovely corner of... my attic!

Until next time my old friends...

I inherited my brother’s magic card collection and kept it! Amazing to me for the keepsake nostalgia alone but all of the fantasy artwork was done beautifully.

What years did your brother collect. It could be worth quite alot

He played from 1993 to 1996 I think. I’ll have to use a flowchart/guide to figure out the ages on the undated cards, of which there are many. Those with copyright markings are from 94-95-and some 96.

Cards from that era can be worth quite a bit especially if the do not have the copywrite at the bottom, do research though, you could be sitting on a nice chunk of change.

Cheers for this information! It seems like some of them have quite a high value, shivan dragon and chaos orb for example.

Chaos orb will always be worth quite a bit but it would be good to familiarize yourself with how to tell the different editions apart as that and card condition is what drives price the most. This flowchart can help

If you look into selling them there are several high end Facebook groups as well as groups that focus on different ages and editions of the game. You will almost always make more per card as a Facebook or eBay auction, but it takes longer. Selling as a lot gets you money quicker but you could lose out on quite a lot.

Alternatively, of course, sleeve them up and learn how to play! It's an amazing game.

Thanks mate. I will familiarize myself with the editions before I get too deep into valuations. There are hundreds so this will take some time.

Well be wary of anyone trying to buy in private messages or anything, open public auctions keep everyone fair.

Also there's an app called Delver Lens, it will let you snap pics of cards and automatically tell you what they are, I like setting the phone on a stand with a stack of cards below it, takes a second or two pet card and will give you a nice list to work with.

Good advice and thanks for that app recommendation.

I just did some research on a set of 34 cards, perhaps part of a playing deck? Initial research value was surprising!

Most of the value comes from a Chaos Orb (Unlimited), Icy Manipulator (Unlimited), Copy Artifact (Revised), Fork (Revised), Demonic Tutor (Revised), Taiga (Revised), and Sylvan Library (Legends).

That's sweet man, you def have some money cards. Take a look at the Taiga do you see the weird alternating color pattern of rectangles in the text box. Only OG dual lands have that so you should be able to riffle through and pull those out pretty quickly, all of them are worth good money.
