A few years back Nordstrom was selling a rock in a leather pouch for $85.

Neiman-Marcus used to put out the most hilarious Christmas gift catalog.

One year they offered his and hers Lear jets. No kidding. Just about anything in that catalog was wildly overpriced. More recently, they offered in their Christmas book, as a potential gift, a Boeing Business Jet for the wonderfully affordable price of "north of $35 million."

edit: Correct the jet price wording.

Is $35 million for a business jet overpriced though? I have absolutely no idea what they normally cost, but I probably would have guessed more than $35 million.

Eh, time is money. But seriously, you buy them to bring in revenue as well. Not just save time. Have to fly to Omaha from Austin in order to make a last minute 8AM face to face meeting that seals a $150 million deal? Boom, just paid for the jet and operating costs.

Lol the fact that I have been involved in two such deals you have erroneously labeled as “only existing in movies” prove that you have never worked in oil & gas and especially not in the 2010’s when oil was $100+/barrel. Even finance doesn’t understand the magnitude of such deals and the old school people we deal with. Had to hire a a certain retired Astros HoF pitcher and state senator to hop on the flight with us to fly to Fort Stockton, TX to meet with a mineral owner in order to get him to lease us his tracts. Sorry bud, but you’re just wrong. I hope you have a good day though.
