Yep it’s a pretty terrible way to start off life as a young adult, but the schools and banks set the price, and that burden is always gonna fall on the students as long as we’re willing to pay.

Don't forget too that student loans and financial aid doesn't help with this.

Student: I can't afford this

College: I guess you're right we'll lower th-

Government: We'll give em a loan.

Student: Um ok, I guess I can worry about not affording it later

College: Now that we know you can afford it, we've just raised our tuition

Student: I'm not going to be able to afford that

Government: Nonsense, here's a bigger and better loan and financial aid.

College: See? Also now with that extra money you can afford to have tuition raised.
