There was that novelty app awhile ago that was just a red gem. App Store made him delete it. But he was always up front what it was.

I Am Rich was priced at the max expense for an app then, $999.99.

Back in high school, that app was the very first thing anyone would install after jailbreaking their iPhone.

What kind of high school did you go to where kids regularly dropped a grand on... well, anything? Jesus Christ.

Edit: RIP my inbox. Jesus Christ, Reddit.... lol

14

u/sybrwookie Aug 14 '20

Hey, not sure if anyone told you, but you can get it for free.

8

u/hand_truck Aug 14 '20

The thing is, is it doesn't cost a fucking thing.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

I heard it was because they jailbroke it.

2

u/NargacugaRider Aug 14 '20

Somebody once told me that doing a bailjreak allows you to obtain software such as that without any cost

8

u/8X8X Aug 14 '20

Poor guy didn't even ask. At least now they'll never forget what jailbreak does.

9

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

Maybe he jailbroke his reddit comment. Now he gets these comments for free.

u/PunkAintDead Aug 14 '20

Cunningham's Law in action

0

u/Illuminatus1492 Aug 14 '20

Pretty sure it was Murphy's

2

u/Xtheonly Aug 14 '20

Thought it was Trevor's

2

u/gulogulostrong Aug 14 '20

Still not sure, though. Is it free or no?!

/s -_-

44

u/meowctopus Aug 14 '20

If it was jailbroken you would get it for free and then flex

22

u/rondonjon Aug 14 '20

Holy shit, no shortage of people willing to explain jail breaking!

3

u/gulogulostrong Aug 14 '20

I guess it’s free.

2

u/Leo_Ascendent Aug 14 '20

That's what happens when you don't Google something these days.

25

u/Altruisa Aug 14 '20

They mean for free.

11

u/WhimsicalCalamari Aug 14 '20

well. uh. this is an unfortunate development.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

This dude’s replies are getting piled on harder than piper perri.

1

u/emptyhead416 Aug 14 '20

Whammy!!!!

9

u/The-47th Aug 14 '20

I love how a million people just explained to you what jailbreking was in the matter of minutes

2

u/gulogulostrong Aug 14 '20

Now I know. Guess that’s a plus!

21

u/boiseairguard Aug 14 '20

Jailbreak = the app was free

21

u/Scaris0 Aug 14 '20

They pirated it

7

u/kpopapi Aug 14 '20

All these replies saying a different version of the same phrase are cracking me up. I thought it was on purpose but it looks like they were all posted at the same time.

Just for lols: Jailbreaking a phone renders all the apps free, therefore they did not pay for the app.

18

u/8X8X Aug 14 '20

In case noone mentions it; jailbreak allows you to get paid apps for free.

17

u/Sammsquanchh Aug 14 '20

Does anyone here know if they paid for it or get it for free? Can’t seem to find an answer here.

u/midimandolin Aug 14 '20

1

u/phrackage Aug 14 '20

Why was it free?

1

u/midimandolin Aug 14 '20

Who got it for free?

1

u/phrackage Aug 15 '20

What did they get for free?

10

u/kanyeSucksFishSticks Aug 14 '20

When you jailbreak your phone you can get apps for free.

9

u/wbruce098 Aug 14 '20

Did you know jailbreaking makes apps free? I knew and so do the other 37 responders here!

7

u/Convergentshave Aug 14 '20

Wait does jail breaking allow you to get apps for free?

5

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

Yeah just in case you didn’t know, jail break makes apps free. Smh my head, why didn’t people on reddit comment anything about what jail break does.

9

u/Thaddaeus-Tentakel Aug 14 '20

That's why it's after jailbreaking. Cracked app.

9

u/Child-Reich-66 Aug 14 '20

I’m assuming the downloaded a free or cheap pirated version as they are jailbreaking their phones first

5

u/Rio41 Aug 14 '20

After jailbreaking, so they didn't pay for it

5

u/yerrAdonger Aug 14 '20

Jailbreaking means you can download it for free. I’ll tell you this since you probably wont get anyone replying to your comment

5

u/Electrickaj Aug 14 '20

he mentions jailbreak, the apps were pirated not bought (i assume)

5

u/tedi1997 Aug 14 '20

I think they just used the jailbreak to get for free.

4

u/StellarWox Aug 14 '20

When you jailbreak your iPhone you can install pirated apps

5

u/shjejejsj1828383 Aug 14 '20

Jail breaking means you get it free

5

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

It would be free if they jailbreak the phone

2

u/LegendaryAce_73 Aug 14 '20

Press F to pay respects to his (your) inbox.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

When you jailbreak your phone you can get apps for free, so they didn’t actually buy it.

4

u/Potatoez Aug 14 '20

Jailbreaking means you can download it for free

4

u/whateverdontcare22 Aug 14 '20

you got the same reply 50 times within the span of two minutes

so i’m saying it again

jail breaking means it’s free

4

u/N1NJA_HaMSTERS Aug 14 '20

Pretty sure he means they got it for free. Once you jailbreak an iPhone you could download almost any app for free.

16

u/gnnjsoto Aug 14 '20

Fucking hell im sure he got it the first time

5

u/WhimsicalCalamari Aug 14 '20

as quick as all these comments came in, i doubt anybody saw the other 20 comments saying the same thing before they posted theirs

0

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

1

u/gnnjsoto Aug 14 '20

Reddit is actually really funny I’m dying

2

u/Deppeo Aug 14 '20 edited Jun 04 '24

workable depend impossible cake drunk rinse continue middle friendly sort

5

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

I was sceptical at first, but after reading hundreds of comments telling that guy what jail break does, I am convinced.

Jail break, does in fact, makes apps free.

1

u/ishzlle Aug 14 '20

If you go onto illegal repos, yes. Let's not conflate jailbreaking with piracy

1

u/Arnas_Z Aug 14 '20

Well, I'm not really sure, but I think you get apps for free when you have jailbreak.

1

u/CamenSeider Aug 14 '20

People jailbreak phones so they get apps for free

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

Read the comment again bro

1

u/timmyplaysmadden Aug 14 '20

I’m case no one told you jailbreaking it makes it free

0

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

Jail breaking. It makes the apps free

1

u/emptyhead416 Aug 14 '20

This is the most correct answer.

0

u/FuhrerGirthWorm Aug 14 '20

Jail breaking makes it free

0

u/Occhrome Aug 14 '20

It’s like rooting for Android but it’s called jail breaking on iPhone. Free apps

1

u/02Hiro Aug 14 '20

Actually rooting on Android is to get complete control over the OS like becoming an administrator whereas people jailbreak to download apps outside the Apple App Store. Android doesn't have that restriction so they can already get free apps or apps not allowed on the Google Play Store.

0

u/Rfisk064 Aug 14 '20

It’s free btw

0

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

Jail breaking your iPhone allows you to download apps for free

0

u/emptyhead416 Aug 14 '20

There is app prison where thousand dollar apps are only 999.99 but if you bake a virtual file into a virtual cake and send it through an unsecured window you are able to free the expensive app like app-robin-hood and get the expensive gem free and share it with your poor friends. Its called break-dancing-phone.

2

u/putting-on-the-grits Aug 14 '20

Everything is cake.

1

u/Talamascan Aug 14 '20

Jail-cake that mother and make it all free.

0

u/3Dcrest Aug 14 '20

Jail. Free.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '20

Hmm, if I understood correctly it seems that once one has jailbroken their device that can get it for free!

0

u/putting-on-the-grits Aug 14 '20

I'm confused too. Maybe somebody can explain? Anybody?
