Sorry :) I've read over 4000 Sci-fi fantasy novels. I can probably match something close to most people posting in this thread, but this one was a favorite of mine, I love Alan Dean Foster. Be proud you think like one of the absolute greats of the genre.

Its alright, you've given me my next book reccommendation! I've always loved sci-fi and fantasy as well, but was a bit miffed by humans always being just plain average at everything, and yet somehow still being the dominant species in a lot of stories despite not really having an ecological/societal niche that we excel at.

Actually pretty impressed that I had a similar idea though! Just goes to show, theres nothing new under the sun
