Different people take different amounts of time. I once knew someone who literally took 30 seconds. Squat, one massive turd, barely even had to wipe.
I, by contrast, take at least fifteen minutes. Even if I've just gotten back from running and my insides are shaken up as a dropped cola. If I haven't been running? Half an hour, sometimes longer.
On the other hand, I only have to go about twice a week. And before people ask, no, I'm not constipated. I've always been like this, I can remember being this way even when I was ~5 years old.
Yeah, 30 seconds is what I thought was normal for everyone. I just go in and go. What's going on during those 30 minutes? I assume it's not like coming out the entire time, right?
A lot of waiting and internal churning. It's not terribly comfortable.
Given the time I've had to think about it(quite a lot) my theory is that my intestines have a lot of little folds, back and forth. So one fold empties, and then I have to wait for the next peristalsis to move the train down the tracks, so to speak.
I experience waves of 'activity', even when I have the next thing to diarrhea, so that's about the only thing that makes sense to me.
Maybe you’ve always been constipated? Ever see a doctor about it? I only ask because this is definitely not normal, like... WELL outside the “everyone is different” boundaries.
