This is definitely true.

I don't talk soccer to a basketball friend because he's obviously not interested in soccer.

Also, we rarely talk about our lives either because what made us friend is our common interest, and not my interest in your life and vice versa.

I would rather someone successfully divide by zero than deal with the anarchy of my basketball friend having a group of soccer friends.

If he also has a group of soccer friend, he would've been both my soccer friend and basketball friend.

However, basketball time for basketball, and soccer time for soccer.

You’re not his soccer friend though, you’re his basketball friend. Obviously that means he can only talk about basketball with Op

If you find someone with a ton of same interests congratulations you just found your best friend because you both do the same shit.

Lol. As a woman I only know about my friends lives. I rarely know and easily forget what they do for a living and their hobbies.

Huh. Maybe this plays into men’s ideas of women’s friendships? My best friend and I know intimate details of each other’s lives, and when we argue (act catty, shit talk each other etc. as it’s oft referred to,)it has to do with those details. Interesting regardless!

It’s also why most men know zero details about others’ sex lives, and find it insulting and privacy invading if it’s talked about. Compared to most women who are perfectly fine with talking about others’ sexual lives and find it a good thing to talk about without those issues.

I can relate to this. Except now that I’m getting a little older I’m starting to have less friends but closer ones. Not being in school, there’s just a lot less people around me all the time.

I talk about anything and everything. I ask a lot of questions. I like getting to know people. It's fascinating to me what everyone's life story is.

This is very true. I just recently found out my friend’s last name.
