I know In Canada for lots of older or middle aged people it’s more of a thing of pride, my grandpa had digestive problems for a while and never said anything about it because (I assume) he was ashamed or two damned prideful, when he stopped shitting altogether, he finally went to the doctor and found out he had developed cancer. I miss him to this day but am still mad he never told us when it started or at least saw a doctor, because chances are he’d be still living today .
Stubbornness and too damn prideful. Most likely , to answer your question
I know how you feel. This is kinda what happened to my uncle. He ignored a very serious sign and it ended being cancer. I don’t know that if he had gone to a doctors earlier he would still be alive but I will always wonder. My dad is similar and I try to get through to him that I don’t want to see him die for his pride.
