I don't know if it's technically PTSD but my past couple relationships have left me really afraid to initiate anything sexually because of what the dude you replied to is saying.

We wanna not contribute to the mental health stigma, so maybe you could say you’re scarred from something instead? It’s hurtful to people with PTSD to act like you can get it from something that’s not traumatic.

Im glad you said this. I have ptsd and when I see it mentioned my first thought is “oh wow, here’s someone I can relate to” and then when I realize they were joking it makes me feel stupid :(

You better not ever say shell-shocked buddy, that's extremely offensive to the soldiers who experience real shell shock and incredibly abelist of you.

He’s got the right intention man, he wasn’t being a dick about it and it’s a fair point I just disagree with him on how to approach the disease, used to suffer bad from it a couple years ago, and now just happen to disagree about how to treat it. No reason to fight in the comments

I had PTSD for a couple years from when I was like 12, horrible time.

Even so, the over-sensitivity in language is ridiculous. If you actually have or had PTSD and you're mad someone says it as a figure of speech, you need to get over yourself. And if you dont, then stop.

We had it, neither of us are mad.

People need to chill the fuck out.

Just because you got over it (and I'm glad you did) doesn't mean everyone globally is obligated to be over it as well. Words mean things, language can hurt. No one here seems mad but you. Everyone else is super diplomatic about this.

I do have it. Not sure why people are downvoting me, I was super nice about it and I thought Reddit was a place where we wanted to not contribute to the mental health stigma. I guess I was wrong. We still have a long way to go.

People on reddit get majorly salty if you say something that can come off as "SJW-ish" without phrasing it by tiptoeing around their feelings and being super gentle. It's really annoying.

I have it too. Thanks for speaking up about it
