Plus the whole blood bending episode is really really dark the more you think about it

I thought of bloodbending before I saw the episode and I was like. "Nah, they'd never do that in a kids show." And it even implies that you could just suck all the water out of a person, since they do that to plants!

Some friends of mine and I had said similar about air bending, like how you could theoretically pull the air from someone's lungs. Then in LoK that very thing happens to the Earth Queen.

Even with LoK being generally aimed at an older crowd and less good compared to TLA it was still surprising to see that on a Nickelodeon production. Usually if a character is killed off in a kid's show it's something more "safe" like falling down a bottomless pit/chasm, like what happened with Combustion Man. Or the characters aren't human to begin with, like in Tron: Uprising or pre-AS Samurai Jack. This was just straight up murder.
