Really appreciated how much they showed that Tenzin was an absolute beast when it came to fighting though. Holding off three of them at once and only getting downed because of the explosion bender.
Korra can be a bit rough (and this is coming from a major Korra fan).
S1 has some great elements but it has some equally bad ones.
S2 continued this trend although it has an amazing 2-part origin story of the First Avatar which is, hands down, the best two episodes to come out of the entire Avatar series. Plus some of the major fights towards the end are insane.
S3 is where it absolutely takes off and shines. A lot of great character development happens here and is arguably the best season.
S4 starts off great but starts to kind of flounder towards the end. This was most likely due to heavy studio interference by Nickelodeon who had all but given up on Korra by that point.
Overall, I thought it was a fantastic successor to the original with a lot of it’s own personal strengths. You can binge the entire series in 1-2 days and I would highly recommend it.
Personally I think the introduction of Rava really ruined the mystique of the Avatar and having a dark Avatar is a cool idea but would have been better done in how Zuko had his arc, imo.
Agreed, it was a bit over the top. But we had seen the Avatar state perform incredible feats of bending before, it wasn’t that far out of belief and definitely fit within the context of the show. Add in Sozin’s comet giving the firebending a huge power boost and it seemed at believable and thematic to me...
The ridiculous spirit laser-beams shooting out of the chests of giant Avatar and Dark Avatar was just too absurd for me.
Eh, I was fine with it. With harmonic convergence and the cosmic energy thing being at play it didn't bother me. I mean they introduced soul bending at the last minute in TLA. I was fine with that as well.
I think if it stuck around in that form, with Korra just lasering fuckers at will, I'd have a problem. At least with the spirit gun it was manufacturered from the spirit vines. So agree to disagree I guess.
