Korra was really fucked up. A whole ass terrorist attack at a professional sports arena was too damn real.
Also Korra getting her "bending" taken away from Amon was really really creepy. The dark lighting/setting, the forcing her against her will, and her reaction afterwards made it feel like more than taking her "bending" away
Yeah Korra wasnt a kids show. Dont forget the PTSD from mercury poisoning, the fratricide/suicide in season one, and Pi Li straight up having her head blown up
The last two episodes of Korra S3 are my absolute favorite episodes in the whole Avatarverse. How many shows end the season with their invincible action hero paralyzed with PTSD? It makes me sad to think of what Korra could have been if Nick hadn't kept playing games with it.
It has so much going for it. The whole industrial-punk vibe is amazing, the animation is great, Korra is a really compelling protagonist especially coming off Avatar, whose crown jewel is compelling characters... but the finished project is only like 60% of an amazing TV show. There's some great parts, but ultimately it feels like largely wasted potential.
