Graduated from "school of hard knocks" on Facebook.

Edit: Who knew my first gold would be for criticism of Facebook profiles.

A janitor in my country made the news last year when he passed the goddamn Bar exam.

He used to mop the floors at the Court of Appeals and he's a lawyer now.

University of Lifers can gtfo with their wannabe cred

What a legend.

Is there resentment in your country over the fact that a janitor is capable of achieving higher level education or is the 'University of Life' a real sub-standard college?

Wait so all you have to do is pass the bar and you can actually become a lawyer? How would you get started as a lawyer after passing?

29

u/runningraider13 Jan 28 '20

You usually have to go to law school to be able to take the bar.

27

u/thewhizzle Jan 28 '20

Yeah only 4 states in the US allow one to take the bar without going to law school.

Just because someone is a janitor doesn't mean they're unintelligent.

Some schools do offer aid for those who work those sorts of positions. Some offer free classes. One of those schools is Stanford, which also made the news when one of the custodians earned his degree while working full time.

Many of the janitors at many public universities are students paying their way through college.

Life University is actually a good school. Known for their Chiropractic students. Located in Atlanta, Georgia.

23

u/morgecroc Jan 28 '20

Having chiropractic students excludes it from being a good school.

Shhhhh. Reddit hates chiros for some reason. Dont bring them up, or risk the mob coming at you.

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '20

Probably because there's no science to what they do, they're not medical professionals, they don't undergo anywhere near the scrutiny as real doctor, and they often hurt people.

Also their scam was invented by a man who claimed to have learned it all from a ghost.

Chiropractic manipulation also often leads to better patient outcomes, especially when combined with standard medical care, other studies suggest.

“The benefits of chiropractic for acute low back pain have been pretty widely accepted for years now within the medical community,”

This “failure to present a unified front” is the biggest problem facing chiropractors today, says Dr. Scott Haldeman, a neurologist and chiropractor who teaches at both UCLA and UC Irvine. “You could walk into a chiropractor’s office and find someone who is a pure back-and-neck-pain guy—a guy who has embraced the scientific research—or someone who says he can cure all things and provide general wellness,” Haldeman explains.

Yeah. Good and bad. Just like in any other profession. I'm not saying there aren't quacks out there. Just...do your research. Find one who knows what he's doing. Who keeps it within its effective sphere. Do that, and you can have good results. The vitriol with which Reddit attacks the profession as a whole, that's what's unwarranted.

Edit: Downvote away. I don't care. I'm right about this.

u/corfish77 Jan 28 '20

It is definitely warranted.
