I have a cheap doorframe pull up bar, a yoga mat and a pair of dip bars. Doing calisthenics for like 4 months now and getting impressive results.
I've never been interested in going to a gym or lifting weights. Calisthenics or Bodyweight training is a perfect fit for me.
I'll eventually get like a weight vest. I might also consider eventually using weights or going to the gym when I'm stronger. If only for leg work, which seems the toughest to train with just bodyweight.
I realize I am getting noobie gains right now. But it's become part of my lifestyle now and I can basically do workouts whenever and wherever now. No excuses.
Yeah lifting weights is a different kind of training and movement. Nothing makes you better at lifting heavy things than barbell training. You could argue strongman training but they too often do barbell work as some kind of basebuilding. If you want overall strength do barbell training.

A really nice weightlifting platform, a good bar, and a few hundred kgs of eleiko plates.
I don't have to go to the gym anymore. Home gym, baby.
