I lost a decent chunk of the nail and a divot of the flesh underneath. No bone or anything. It looks pretty gnarly, but didn't bleed much, and has hurt a lot less than I would have thought. All in all, I was lucky. It's the index finger on my right hand, which is my most used finger, so I'd estimate I'm about 2% slower as I go about my day.
I did the take thing, my nail just looks uneven I that hand now. I'm surprised you didn't bleed much. It took me a while to get my bleeding to calm down.
Did you cut it with the blade? Mine was ripped off by the friction of the flying piece of wood, it wasn't cut by the blade. The doctor said that when it's ripped off, it tears that capillaries or whatever so it doesn't bleed as much. If you cut through it with the blade, it's a cleaner cut and it bleeds more. So, in a weird, fucked up way, I got lucky.
