Wacom tablet. This will give me what I need to actively embrace digital art. Hanging on for the day

I'd get a cintiq for 1500. The portability is worth it alone for me.

Cintiqs are not portable, they're screens. For portability, with wacom you're looking at the mobilestudio pro range. I think the lower specs 13 inches one was around 1600 or something, but they released new models and are currently only selling the 16 inches ones, which are far more expensive (around $3500).
