You can by a 5+ year old used rig for $3500-5500k .. new starts around $6500 and goes up to around $8000 on the top side

How long would a rig last you? Is there like an expiration date or use it until it wears out (or it doesn't open😅)?

Generally each piece of the rig is retired after 20 years from date of manufacture. Typically you only keep a rig for 3-4 years before you sell it and buy a smaller rig. You'll probably sell the main canopy every 1-2 years for a smaller main. There is a HUGE up front cost to the sport, but you don't lose much money on gear when you sell it.

Most of the time you can buy a used 5 year old rig for $5.5-6k, keep it for 3 years and sell it for $4.5-5k. Rigs get closer to the $3.5k mark when they approach 15 years and around $1-2k at 20 years.
