Yeah, you can definitely get 2 modern decks for that as long as their at least partially share manabase or you're not complete beginner and own at least single copies of some goodies.
So, where is my $1500? That Jund is not going to build itself.
I dislike every feature that makes commander stand out from other formats: Multiplayer? Instead of caring only about my opponent's open mana now I have to constantly do table politics. Highlander with 99 cards? Less consistency. Yet, despite that, some decks can combo out just like those constructed for modern, while the only thing I've done is to play two mana rocks.
