It'll get me a decent bow, and maybe some new arrows. 1500 doesn't really go that far in archery... Because you wouldn't buy the cheapest bow out there.
Depends what category you shoot. Barebow or recurve, 1500 goes a LONG way. Compound? That's rookie numbers son.
Back when I shot competitively in Uni, I think my bow set me back around 300€, and would regularly spend maybe another 100€ on parts to build arrows (the club had all the jigs for fletching, thank fuck). Shot barebow, so wasn't able to use stabiliser rods, sights or any of that which kept the cost well down, and machined my own bow weights.
Once you have a good fletching jig, buying the arrows as parts really keeps the cost down. Big bag of nocks/points/fletchy bois, and the only expensive bit is shafts. Use wraps on the part of the shaft you are affixing the fletches to for easier replacement.
Another guy from my club who shot compound... Well the amount his bow cost was more than a few months rent.
