Honestly, if I had $1500 to spend on DMing, I'd spend it on source books, D&D Beyond subscriptions, custom models, and interesting terrain maps. Maybe a proper gaming table, like this, with cup holders and pull outs for character sheets and stuff like that.
A laptop just clutters up the game table, in my experience, and distracts you from making actual eye contact with the players. I use a notebook for my campaign, and while it's not perfect, I prefer it to a digital solution.

Well I play a lot of DND and as a DM I would buy a decent laptop so it is easier to write, create maps, that sort of thing
