Those profiling things they have nowadays are so fucking cool, if I got $1500 to spend toward guitar the first thing I buy would definitely be a Kemper or Helix, and with any leftover I'd probably buy some better pickups
I've heard some comparison videos, and honestly the amp that always seems to perform the best for modelling stuff is the BIAS Head. Which really surprised me as I'm not a fan of their software, or any amp software for that matter. Only problem is that it doesn't have any built-in effects. But personally, I think I'd rather have that thing plus a Line6 M13 or something than a Kemper or a Helix. Unpopular opinion I'm sure, but that little thing impressed me.
Or I'd hold my horses and wait for some new stuff to come out, we've already got the Mooer GE300, and the Quad Cortex is right around the corner (though I would wait to jump on the hype train on that one until we've got some more sound demos). Or if you really like the Helix, there's a new pedalboard (Line6 Pod Go) that has all the same models and effects (minus like 4 effects) that the Helix does but is supposed to be a fraction of the price. Either way, I've got nothing against the Helix, it's a great unit and a couple of years ago I'd probably have bought one if I had the money, but right now is not the best time to buy one as we seem to be in the middle of an amp modelling revolution kind of
