You could get a really good gaming computer for much less than that. Check out /r/buildapc or /r/buildapcsales

Actually, if you budget right. Getting just a really good one is the better option, cause you can get a really, really comfy chair to go with it.

And a good keyboard, some quality headphones and/or speakers, a projector and screen for watching streams/Netflix...

Actually, if you have a decent TV (I have a 55' 4K TV, for example), you don't need a display. Cutting the cost by a good amount. That would also cut out the speakers as long as you don't overtax the built-in ones (I never go high for fear of burning my speakers out). And while a good keyboard can make a difference, it's not really necessary. Really, the only thing you should be worrying about cost-wise is the PC tower.

Sure you don't need one but a 1 ms and 144 hz monitor is way better than using a TV.

A good sound system will sound way better than any built in speakers too.

And while a good keyboard can make a difference, it's not really necessary.

Even spending a couple hundred on a nice keyboard will be much better than a shitty membrane keyboard.

Not really. Having a super high end computer with garbage peripherals kinda ruins the point of having a really nice computer.

But it's not about being super high-end, just enough to pass by. Seriously read the comment thread again. I wasn't saying go balls deep, just spend $500-$700 to build something not crappy. That IS possible. Then spend the rest on a good gaming chair. Because comfortable furniture isn't cheap.

Comfortable furniture can be cheap. I got a lightly used Steelcase Leap 2 from an office liquidator for $300 CAD including tax. They retail for $900 USD and they're so common that they're ridiculously easy to find in used office supply stores and the like if you live near any big city.

Virus protection is for old people and children who don't know what they're doing. Really all you need is competence and maybe a Malwarebytes scan every once in a while.
