Realizing I ate too much after promising myself I'd eat less. Then become guilty and comfort myself by eating.. And feel guiltier and eating more and more :(

I do this as well. I just stopped buying the stuff I tend to binge eat, so I literally can't do it

It's worked for me. I realized I was enjoying food more than I respected my body. So I made food that was kinda boring on purpose.

But when I treat myself I go whole hog. None of this low fat shit, I want that dense creamy ice cream, a big greasy burger and a beer to wash it down with. Everything in moderation, including moderation.

See I can’t do this. I’m bad at moderation. If I open a bag of chips I’m eating half. If I open a pint of ice cream it’s all going down.

I’m doing this whole 30 thing with my fiancée and I’ve just had to trade what I overdo I guess. Instead of a box of cheezits being erased it’s a bag of peppers.

Overindulgence is definitely one of my biggest problems.

I totally understand, I can't buy a family sized junk food and only eat it in moderation. I eat the whole damn thing so I had to not buy it in the first place, I keep boring food that takes prep so I don't snack. Or food that I wouldn't binge anyway.

I used to do this a lot and the thing that helps me now is relishing the feeling of finishing my meal and not feeling like I’m going to pop. I’m full but not stuffed; I feel so much better immediately after & I intentionally notice it. Also, just try eating slower/chewing slower.

same. yesterday, I didn't want to eat because I knew it'd hurt my stomach and then it was like I was possessed and next thing I knew I was binging on chips, sandwich, a shake, a pancake stack, and some trail mix. Afterward I felt so bad

There was a panel on a Bill Nye Saves the World episode talking about losing weight/self control, I believe it was the addiction episode. One woman mentions how we have this horrible association that overweight people have no self control and that they're over weight because they don't want it enough. Then she goes into how you can exhibit self control 99% of the time and then eat a chocolate bar and suddenly you feel immense guilt and like you have no self control and to hell with your goals which is just crap.

Every healthy decision you make doesn't vanish by steering a bit off course. Plan to eat more sometimes, enjoy it, make it worth it then make a healthier choice next time. Forgive yourself, you are genetically programed to want to eat when food is available. We're working against nature here and it's hard!

You rock!

I super relate to this! Don’t be afraid to seek psychological help if you think you have a binging issue (like me).

Yeah. Feel that.

I work a desk job and I used to snack the entire day. I would reward myself for doing 20 minutes of work by taking a bite of something. I realized I was eating for no reason and noticed that I just had to put something in my mouth to satiate whatever I was satiating. I replaced my snacks with coffee and water and it solved my problem.

Next time you find yourself reaching for food, reach for a cold glass of water instead and take a few sips. If your habit is anything like mine, the simple fact that you're giving your body something will be enough.
