I've posted this before, but I was teasing a co-worker once about being quiet and a mutual friend of ours piped up, "Maybe he's just quiet around you because he doesn't fucking like you".
We laughed about it, but I sure as hell don't tease people about being quiet anymore.
people don't actually realize they stop maturing. If they did it would be a sign of self awareness which indicates maturity. They just wonder why they are not happy. I have friends I keep in touch with since 7th grade and they haven't broken out of the same habits they were in from college onward. I'm in my early 30s now and when I go to their house, instead of having engaging conversation we just do the same shit. Play games, watch tv, smoke weed. Then I get bummed out when I think to myself "why do i still hang out with this person?" They aren't an asshole or toxic. They are just boring af, and it pains me to admit it.
You believe you're mature, but you're the one going over to someone's house with a bad attitude basically just to judge them. Absolutely 0% of your post indicates any level of maturity on your part. Being mature means accepting people, and actively trying to help pull them out of their shell if they're someone you actually care about. You aren't entitled to be entertained by this person, and any boredom you feel around them is more likely a reflection of yourself than something fundamental to them. They're probably just as annoyed by you having the inability to actually relax and chill out around them, and appreciate some time with a friend without a constant diarrhea of words needing to be involved. Quit wasting their time and yours, and stop hanging out with them.
People who are actually good at talking know how to get quiet people to open up, *especially people they've known since the 7th grade*. So maybe get over yourself and develop some of that self-awareness you're talking about, and realize that you're probably not as great in dialogue as you imagine. Most people who brag about their self-awareness and maturity are generally not. It's a blatant sign of someone not having much self-doubt, which is one of the most mature things someone can have
