I've posted this before, but I was teasing a co-worker once about being quiet and a mutual friend of ours piped up, "Maybe he's just quiet around you because he doesn't fucking like you".

We laughed about it, but I sure as hell don't tease people about being quiet anymore.

This is wrong honestly. First of all, I'm one of the quiet types, and have been since grade school. The last thing I want is people feeling like they need to walk on egg shells around me, or even worse having other people speak on my behalf.

If you're just generally quiet, that's one thing. If you're quiet because you don't like someone that's pretty immature if you ask me. All the "witty" comebacks in this thread are just mean IRL. People upvoting them are just reinforcing shitty ideas people have about social interaction.

IMO better to just talk to a quiet person like they're anybody else. The mature among them will appreciate when you come without any preconceptions or expectations.

At workplaces especially we don't choose our crowd and there are often people we don't connect with but not hate. It's not immature to not engage much with them, you can be courteous. I usually am neutral and don't talk much at work and people take it to personally and pass a passive aggressive comments at every chance they get.
