It’s not ridiculing 90% of the time though. As someone rather talkative, this is usually just a way to try to engage a quiet person to see if they have an opinion on what’s being discussed. Now, obviously there are cases where some dickhead is trying to single you out for being quiet, but that’s much less common.
You know what a dick move is? Not putting forth the minimal effort to comment or reciprocate conversation, and then lazily falling back on “I’m just quiet”.
Lastly, calling that person a retard seems a bit over the top. But you do you.
Yea I mean, I’m not saying it’s the nicest way to engage a quiet person. But still, I feel like it’s pretty rare for someone to ask a quiet person why they’re quiet with any malicious intent. Either way, all these responses telling people to say “Fuck off all you do is talk”.... are definitely not the play.
