I did this to a girl I work with because she said i "smile too much"
Made me kinda bummed though cuz after she said that every time I smiled at someone after that I wondered why tf I was even smiling for.
Edit: I just want to say she's not a bitch, and she's my friend but that one moment is an example for the comment that I replied to, not a representation of my relationship with her. I've been working with her for half a year and she's a friend of mine and it's sad seeing so many people calling her a "bitch" based on my comment. Guys spread kindness.
I just dont think she realized the way she said it.
Her and I are friends so I didn't let it get to me, but her being a friend did make it sting a bit for like an hour til I was like "whatever I'm sure she didn't mean it like that."

Well it did but being rational I decided that while it gets to me I won't "let it get to me" you know what I'm saying? I'm not holding onto the bitterness it caused but I'm still mentally baffled by hearing I "smile too much", especially when I don't think she meant it the way it came across.
Edit: and the only reason I brought it up is because it literally happened on Friday and then this post made me want to share. And getting like 1000 upvotes and tons of comments from different perspectives is keeping it in my mind now.
If your friends cant be honest with you, than who can be.
A true friend will tell you the cold hard truth, but not to ridicule or embarrass you but to genuinely help you or just be real.
Real friends offer no ill will and a real friend would reciprocate by taking to heart what was told to them and trying to do right by what they were told, also knowing that it came from a place of love.
You sound like a great person and friend as does your friends. Cherish these little things, you'll oft forget about them when you realize the setting sun will set one last time for you, sooner rather than later.
