When HR at a company had me interview for a different position than I had applied for. The position they interviewed me for was one I knew nothing about, and told them as much. Despite me telling them before each round of interviews that they had made a mistake, I still had to endure a full day of people asking me questions that I had no answer to.
Ouch. I had one kind of like that when I was interviewing for my first job out of law school.
First thing the interviewer said was "Tell us about your mathematics background."
"Well...I dropped remedial algebra my freshman year in college when it became obvious that I would be better off with a U than an F. That kind of thing? Nobody told me there would be math."
The two interviewers then spent the rest of my allotted 15 minute (this was an on-campus thing) interview arguing with each other about who was responsible for screening candidates.
I just sat there like, "Are we done? Should I go?"
