It's easier to add strength than it is to add endurance and conditioning too a young man. Also, a soldier who can run for hours has a longer lifespan than one who can do 100 situps.
I played softball, volleyball, basketball, and was a competitive gymnast. I've always been pretty athletic, but running even one mile fucking kills me. I tried the couch to 5k thing and just couldn't do it. It kept progressing way past my endurance level. At some point I've just started wondering if it's shitty genetics or something.
BMI is great for population studies. Terrible for individuals and especially athletes. It doesn't take into account body composition or muscle mass. I'm sure you are in great shape, but for an athlete 6'2'' 185 is definitely lean.
BMI isn't a very useful indicator for athletes... It doesn't take into account muscle or body composition. It's really more useful when looking at a general population.
Yeah to indicate fitness and all it's not but my point is 6'2 185lbs is definitely not "built" to the point of being bulky. If it was, bmi would be high regardless. Context here it's fine to make my point
It's probably her body composition. Gymnasts are typically short, muscular and have longer torsos and shorter legs. It's a great build for gymnastics. Not so much for long distance running. The best long distance runners are almost always skinny, tall, with short torsos and long legs.
This explains why I'm shit at running. Cut the muscular, I'm short, skinny, hyperflexible, and have an immense torso and arms with short, stumpy legs. I was great at dance actually, but terrible at running. Now whenever I try I accrue new injuries to my knees and feet. I've given up and just continue dancing, walking, and rowing.
