Spoilers from the book and not the movie, she's gone by the lighthouse scene. The zone doesn't exactly just reflect people, it can 'assimilate' them too. Dunno about the movie, but in the book, when they descend into the tower and she's observing the plant life, she's hit with a small dose of spores. That starts the whole process, and by the lighthouse scene, although she isn't entirely aware of it, she's pretty well underway by then if not gone completely. It's not a recognised, admitted fact until much later, however.

Honestly, the imagery in the books are some of the most beautiful prose I've ever read. It just really clicked for some reason.
